Better by Design materials

Products must meet certain material requirements to be included in our Better by Design collection. Learn more below.
Recycled Aluminium
Products with this material contain at least 30% post-consumer recycled aluminium, which consumes significantly less energy than virgin aluminium during production.
Recycled Plastics
Products with this material contain at least 30% post-consumer recycled plastic, helping cut down on the use of virgin plastic and the petroleum it consumes.
Recycled Cotton/Polyester
Products with these materials must contain at least 20% post-consumer recycled cotton or polyester fibres, helping reduce the use of virgin fibres and decrease fabric waste.
Responsibly Forested
Better by Design products with this label are made using materials certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and/or the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
Organic Cotton
Better by Design products with this material contain at least 70% organic cotton, which is grown using less hazardous materials. Many also include certifications that track supply chains and safeguard workers’ rights.
Recycled Stainless Steel
Better by Design products with this material contain at least 30% post-consumer recycled stainless steel, a durable steel alternative that cuts back on the use of virgin metals.
PVC-Free
Our PVC-free products are made without polyvinyl chloride or polystyrene, which contain pollutants that are harmful to humans and the environment during production and disposal.
Recycled Wood & Paper
Products with this material contain at least 70% post-consumer recycled wood or paper, diverting waste from landfills and helping cut back on deforestation.

Introducing Better by Design, VistaPrint’s initiative to provide you with more responsibly sourced products than ever. We’re searching high and low for items that aren’t just well made, but mindfully made – paying extra-special attention to their materials. Specifically, we focus on products made with PVC-free plastics, recycled materials, GOTS-certified organic cotton and responsibly forested wood and paper.

Even better? We’ve rounded everything up into a curated collection, so you can easily find staples that feel right for you and your business (after all, choosing better shouldn’t be hard). Every item you see meets strict parameters for inclusion. In fact, many of our products contain quantities of responsibly sourced materials consistent with certifications like the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) and the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).

Frequently Asked Questions

Many of our Better by Design materials and products are sourced from suppliers that meet globally recognised standards, including the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the Organic Content Standard (OCS), the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS).

We’re also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). Our North American and European operations are both FSC-certified, and our chain of custody codes are NC-COC-007926 (North America) and PBN-COC-031390 (Europe). We’re currently PEFC-certified in Europe only, with a certification code of PBN-PEFC-COC-031390.

How we verify materials depends on the product. Many come with certifications such as the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) and the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100. For these products, our dedicated compliance team works with third-party vendors to ensure their materials and supply chains align with their certifications.

When it comes to our responsibly forested products, we currently hold a certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This means that all our responsibly sourced paper and wood items are carefully tracked throughout sourcing, manufacturing and production. We also undergo an annual auditing process and purchase from FSC®-certified vendors who adhere to the same high standards.
